About
Grape Creek on the Square is a tasting room located at Georgetown Square. It offers wine tastings, glasses, and full bottles. This is a members-only club if you want to sit inside the location and enjoy the space.
However, if you're not a member and you would still like to enjoy a glass of wine, you can use the pass-through that opens up to the street. There, you can walk up and order a glass of wine. Wine in hand, you can then just walk around the Square enjoying your wine. Strange, but it's worth the wine!
The actual winery is located in Fredericksburg, with an additional wine-tasting room off Main Street in Fredericksburg. The Grape Creek on the Square location is located right off 7th and Main, on the corner.
Grape Creek says it is a 100% direct-to-consumer company, and that means they are heavily focused on meeting the unique needs of their customer. They want to be the best wine club, and they do that by offering exclusivity to members. The state-of-the-art production facility is impressive, and it is at an estate right in Grape Creek.
They also have expansive vineyards. The location was founded in 1983, making it the oldest winery on Highway 290!
Here are some fun facts I learned during my visit and conversations. The production facility they use has more than 40,000 square feet and 50 stainless tanks to meet demand, and they have about 2,000 barrels of wine aging in the cellar.
Each year, they crush 800 tons of grapes, all of which are grown in Texas. No wonder their wine is so incredible!
Vibe
If you are a member or if you are doing a full wine tasting, you are encouraged to come inside and sit at the bar. It's quite a beautiful location, surprisingly.
The members-only private area upstairs is an excellent choice for relaxing with a good friend. There is also a members-only patio area that has heating lamps so that it can be used throughout the year.
Grape Creek on the Square - Tasting Room: Menu & Drinks
As far as food goes, they do not have a big menu of options here.
Rather, you can enjoy some cheese spreads and meats as well as a few snacks from a refrigerated section if you would like to, but there's no actual menu of dishes served at this location.
The Classic Wine Tasting is probably the best reason to stop in at this location. You'll get a guided tasting by a professional who can help you fully understand every nuance of what you're enjoying. They host wine tastings throughout the day, with the last one being served at 6 PM Monday through Saturday and 4:30 PM on Sunday.
As far as the wines themselves go, they offer a range of options, including ultra-premium wines. There are options in dark and complex reds, fruit-forward roses, and some crisp white wines with citrus flavorings.

- If you become a member, you have the ability to stop in and get a free glass of wine when you pick up your wine purchase, which makes it super easy to get just what you need.
- If you love wine, it is well worth it to join the wine club at this location, which gives you access to some of the best wines in the region.
- Take the tour of the wine-making facility (that's not located on the Square, but it is worth the drive to the production facility!
