About

There's an eatery near Heber City where history and exceptional cuisine blend harmoniously. Welcome to the Midway Mercantile Restaurant.

The Bonner brothers built the building in 1874 and named it the Midway Mercantile. For decades, the store supplied pioneers, farmers, and travelers with a sundry of products and supplies.

Fast forward to 2017, when the Platt family took ownership of the building. With renovations and culinary foresight, they transformed the store into a welcoming restaurant.

Their vision was to have a hearth-to-table restaurant focused on "family, friends, food, and fire." Judging by their success and reputation, they've succeeded.

Upon stepping into this culinary abode, you'll appreciate how they imbued a sense of the past without sacrificing modern comfort. The interior exudes rustic elegance that complements the contemporary menu.

The Platt's commitment to preserving Midway's heritage, right down to the details of the building restoration, reflects in every aspect of the restaurant, from the warm welcome you'll receive to the carefully curated menu.

With Chef John Platt at the helm, he ensures the restaurant's dedication to local heritage shines. They use locally sourced ingredients that are transformed into tantalizing dishes.

The menu at Midway Mercantile Restaurant is a celebration of the local area's bounty, from succulent meats to fresh, vibrant vegetables.

Whether you're a foodie or a history buff keen on local culture, Midway Mercantile Restaurant promises a dining experience that is as enriching as it is delicious.

Midway Mercantile Restaurant: Menu & Drinks

The menu showcases Chef John Platt's prowess, where he flexes his culinary muscles with creative fare.

A prime example of this is the Lavender Orange Chicken. This is a twist on the classic Chinese restaurant staple. The locally sourced chicken is covered in a house-made orange sauce and is served with sautéed Asian veggies and celestial sesame-lavender rice. There are vegan/GF options available, too.

Aside from other exotic choices like lamb, trout, and steaks, try the 15" Stone Hearth Pizza for something different. While you can build your own, they offer seasonal specials.

A summer specialty is the Rajas Pizza. This pie is covered with grilled summer corn, snappy chorizo sausage, and pico de gallo atop Mexican rajas sauce. Toss in hearth roasted pasilla chiles, tomatoes, and onions, and you're in for a tasty treat!

Aside from craft cocktails and beer, consider making a reservation for the ultimate dining experience: a wine dinner. Diners will savor delicious foods while exploring various wines that complement the meal.
