About
The Haunted Fredericksburg Ghost Tour is a must if you are interested in history and things that happen at night! Rest assured, despite the spooky and creepy stories, the tour is family-friendly. The guides modify the scary and gory stories to consider the youngest children in the group.
Groups meet at Nimitz Square for a quick introduction, where you’ll learn of the spooky and ghostly activity in Fredericksburg. During the tour, you’ll stop at several establishments where the guide explains the history of the building, along with ghost stories. Guides frequently share experiences people continue to encounter to this day, offering phone photos as proof.
For example, you may meet "Gus" who inhabits a women's clothing store, children from yesteryear who show up unannounced at the old pharmacy and hospital, and a woman who appears in the middle of the street scaring drivers at high speeds.
The Haunted Fredericksburg Ghost Tour has two options: the Guided Ghost Walk Tour and the Fredericksburg Jail Tour for an additional cost.
The Ghost Walk covers several city blocks (about a mile) and lasts one hour. If you added the Jail Tour, plan an extra 30 minutes for this exciting adventure.
If you want to have added the Jail Tour during the Ghost Tour, ask your guide how to pay on the spot and have them count you.
The Haunted Fredericksburg Ghost Tour has no window display or ticket booth, so you must purchase tickets online or pay by phone.
Haunted Fredericksburg Ghost Tours: Fun facts and cool features
If you're afraid of ghosts or being dragged away by family and peers, here's some comforting news - you can walk down Main Street in Fredericksburg, consuming wine, beer and cocktails at any of the hotel's restaurants. So plan to get there early to buy your adult beverage before you walk in the spirits!
Plus, Fredericksburg is a German settlement steeped in Civil War culture and history that the guides add to their ghost stories, making for an educational tour.
On the jail tour, you’ll step into the eerily dark, rocky building while listening to stories from the tour guide that are sure to give you goosebumps. One in particular concerns a caretaker who left prisoners for days without care, food, or water - adding to a palpable haunting feeling.
Not for the faint of heart, some visitors to the jail have had paranormal encounters. Some of those who took pictures later discovered peculiar orbs in the image. Others experienced severe attacks similar to the energy, which made them feel nauseated and dizzy. Several guests reported seeing ghostly images peering out of windows or flitting down a hallway.
Another attraction to visit is the Admiral Nimitz Gallery. Nimitz is the local hero and the gallery is part of the National Museum of the Pacific War. While not rich in ghost stories, the museum contains images and memorabilia for lovers of WWII history.
