About

Located right on Main Street, Fredericksburg Brewing Company is the place to be for those who love good beer. They have a big selection of options, including honey cream blonde ale, a favorite of mine.

The company opened its doors in 1994, right after the government began allowing brewpub establishments, and it was a hit from the start.

You can stop in just for lunch and dinner, get dessert, too, or just hang out with friends listening to music. They offer a large selection of cold, freshly brewed beers of all types and soon became the oldest operating brewpub in all of Texas.

As far as the beer goes, they have some of the best on tap. The food is also pretty amazing, with options like German fare, burgers, salad, and more.

The staff here is super friendly, too, and you’ll find that they are pretty much all about making each person feel special.

Vibe

The atmosphere at Fredericksburg Brewing Company is fun, upbeat, and welcoming.

It’s family-friendly for sure, though you can also hang out with friends easily here. There’s inside dining available, and then there’s the beer hall. The beer hall is mostly used for events like parties and larger groups but is also a super cool waiting area.

The friendly vibe will delight you. There’s music at the bar, but it’s not so loud that you cannot hear the person next to you.

And at the same time, the setting is pretty cool. It’s in a beautifully restored 1890s-era building. The air-conditioned biergarten is an exceptional place to cool down on a hot day.

Fredericksburg Brewing Company: Menu & Drinks

The Fredericksburg Brewing Company offers tasters, full pints, and wine options. The tasters are only available at the bar and at the specific taster high-top tables. Make sure you get one if you plan to visit to enjoy this super cool experience.

Let’s start with the drinks. The Peace Pipe Pale Ale has an excellent flavor profile, and the Pioneer Porter is really deep. Opt for the Honey Cream Blonde Ale for something sweeter, though you really cannot go wrong with the brewed options.

For dining starters, there are plenty of options, such as the Scotch Egg if it’s just the two of you. It’s a hard-boiled egg that is then rolled up in a spicy, tangy sausage, then breaded and it’s served with a Creole mustard sauce. Yes, that’s just an appetizer. There is also a wide variety of food on the menu and something for everyone, including pizzas, burgers, and even meatloaf.

One of the things that make Fredericksburg Brewing Company unique, though, is the traditional German options. Diners like the Sausage Sampler since the sausage is made locally. Another option is the Jager Schnitzel, which is a breaded pork cutlet that is served with a Bavarian mushroom sauce. Sides like beer-battered fries, German potato salad, and red cabbage are on the menu, too.

Local Tips

  • Buy the pint glasses – you buy them, have them filled with your choice of beer, and then take them home with you.
  • If you want to people-watch, get some brew, and then sit outside and watch people walk down Main Street since it’s a great place to stop for a drink while you’re touring the city’s local shops.
  • They do have a dessert menu – you just have to ask them for what is available for the day (and do so at your own risk because it’s good!)
