About

If you're planning a vacation to Fort Lauderdale, you'll definitely want to put the Riverwalk Water Trolley on your list of must-do activities.

This delightful water bus service provides a fantastic way to see the entire Riverwalk area while enjoying breathtaking waterfront views. Whether you're seeking a leisurely sightseeing experience or a convenient mode of transportation, you'll appreciate the charm and utility of this unique attraction.

Hop on the Riverwalk Water Trolley with a group of friends or family, and embark on a delightful journey around the area.

The trolley makes a total of eight stops at various locations, catering to both transportation needs and leisurely trips. Many visitors, like myself, absolutely adore the picturesque route and the opportunity to take in the scenic views in a relaxed and enjoyable atmosphere.

And The Riverwalk Water Trolley can accommodate up to 20 passengers on its route! You can easily identify the vessel by its distinctive Water Taxi of Fort Lauderdale yellow wrap, as well as the LauderGO! Water Trolley flag.

To board the trolley, simply signal the captain at any of its stops, and they'll happily ferry you to your next destination. The trolley runs throughout the day, from 10 am until 10 pm, ensuring you plenty of opportunities to explore the Riverwalk area.

While the water taxi may occasionally experience slight delays, you'll never find yourself waiting for long. I personally discovered that even if I missed the trolley the first time around, it would return within 30 minutes. Its short transit time allows for frequent service, which means you're never stranded for too long.

Not only is the Riverwalk Water Trolley a wonderful way to experience the picturesque waterfront, but it's also an affordable option for tourists who want to make the most of their Fort Lauderdale vacation. Don't miss the chance to take a refreshing ride on the water while appreciating the sights and sounds of this vibrant area.

Fun Facts & Cool Features

When I hopped on the Riverwalk Water Trolley at the Riverwalk Laura Ward Park terminal, I immediately felt a sense of adventure and excitement. However, if you prefer, you can also board the trolley at any of its other stops, such as Huizenga Plaza, Riverfront Plaza, Esplanade Park, Tarpon River, New River Yacht Club, Downtowner Saloon, or Smoker Park.

At each stop, you'll find a map displaying the trolley's route, making it incredibly easy to plan your journey along the beautiful river.

And as the trolley set off, I had the pleasure of chatting with our friendly and knowledgeable captain. She shared interesting facts about the Fort Lauderdale area, the history of the Riverwalk, and even shared tips on where to find the best local seafood (perfect for a seafood lover like me in search of fresh fish!).

Our conversation added a personal touch to the experience and made the trip even more memorable.

Don't worry if you find yourself wanting to take the Riverwalk Water Trolley for a full loop—that's exactly what I did! This allowed me to enjoy scenic views of the Riverwalk, feel the refreshing breeze, and engage in fun conversations with fellow passengers embracing the vacation spirit.

The laid-back atmosphere and camaraderie on board are sure to captivate any visitor to Fort Lauderdale.

So if you're heading to Fort Lauderdale for your vacation, don't miss out on the chance to explore the Riverwalk via the Water Trolley.

Getting There

The trolley runs along the New River and makes stops at various points. The Main Terminal is right on N. New River Drive at S Andrews Avenue. However, you can get on and off at any time at the designated stops.

I recommend using the app to help you to locate where the water taxi is at any given time.

Local Tips

  • Don’t time things too close because the trolley is dependent on the water traffic and bridges.

  • The trolley is pet friendly, as long as they are leashed!
  • Time it well, and you can be on the boat when the sun goes down—what’s not fabulous about that?
