About

When the beach is too hot, or rain has settled into the area, there's an action-packed attraction waiting to be discovered!

Welcome to the Museum of Discovery and Science in Fort Lauderdale.

Visiting the Museum of Discovery and Science (MODS) is like embarking on an Indiana Jones quest for knowledge and adventure.

With a history stretching back to 1977, when it was known as the Discovery Center, MODS transformed into a treasure trove of science, history, and art.

MODS covers more than 150,000 square feet and has countless interactive exhibits. The museum reminds us of the power of experiential learning.

Displays range from the Great Gravity Clock to life-sized historical exhibits and hands-on science demonstrations. No matter your interests, all are designed to spark curiosity and ignite a passion for science.

An outstanding feature of the museum is its permanent exhibit that explores the 90-year history of the Museum of Discovery. It offers an intriguing glimpse into the evolution of the museum and its enduring commitment to science education.

Adding to the immersive experience is the AutoNation® IMAX 3D Theater, which boasts the largest screen in South Florida. Here, visitors can indulge in six-story-high film adventures that blur the line between reality and imagination.

The recent addition at MODS showcases three content-focused zones: Forces & Energy, Light, and Dynamic Earth. These areas open up worlds of discovery where scientific principles come alive.

Whether you're a science enthusiast, a curious explorer, or seeking a unique getaway, the Museum of Discovery and Science will educate and provide unforgettable memories.

The museum houses more than 200 dynamic hands-on exhibits, offering an engaging experience most museums don't have.

Perhaps the museum's most notable feature is its six-story tall AutoNation IMAX 3D Theater. This theater offers a cinematic experience that makes one feel like part of the action.

Adding to the excitement are live science demonstrations that bring scientific principles to life. Here, guests are given a fun and interactive means to learn that's enjoyable for all ages.

And then there are the live animal encounters, storytimes, and other events scattered throughout the year that make MODS a go-to destination.
