About
Whether you need carbs for a day of hiking or are seeking an authentic Boise dining destination, add Goldy's Breakfast Bistro to your Idaho getaway.
This beloved spot has been feeding diners since Randy and Wanda Martinat opened the doors in February 1999. What started as a modest neighborhood eatery has grown into one of Boise's most frequented breakfast destinations.
With such popularity, limited seating for 56, and no reservations, you can expect to wait. However, there is a waiting list that allows you to explore the nearby Basque Block before your meal.
But don't let this deter you from visiting. Its made-to-order breakfasts, prepared with as many fresh, local ingredients as possible, are what put it on the map. You’ll find hearty staples as well as the option to build your own plate from a wide range of meats, potatoes, breads, and toppings.
Speaking of food, the homemade Hollandaise is renowned, and Bon Appétit named the Andalusian Eggs a favorite in its 2002 issue, a nod that few small restaurants ever earn.
With its downtown location, Goldy’s is your prime starting spot for a day of sightseeing. You’re close to the Basque Museum and Cultural Center, the Idaho State Capitol Building, and the Idaho Anne Frank Human Rights Memorial.
If you’re pressed for time or simply crave coffee and a pastry, visit Goldy’s Corner, which is next door. Since 2011, this family-owned café has served Dawson Taylor coffee, fresh-baked treats, mimosas, and quick eats. Another draw is that this bakery is open until 9:00 p.m. Monday through Saturday, and 7:00 p.m. Sunday, making it appealing when its sister bistro is closed.
With its tasty menu items, cozy layout, and proximity to Boise landmarks, dining at Goldy's Breakfast Bistro is a no-brainer.
Vibe
You’ll easily spot Goldy's terracotta brick facade with sage green window trim on the tree-lined street near the Capitol. The handful of two-tops on the sidewalk add a European look to the Boise bistro.
Step through the door, and enter a cozy layout with an exposed ceiling that makes the room feel grand. A loft overlooks the main dining area and has limited tables for overflow or those seeking a more secluded setting.
The vivid colors used on the ceiling and walls give the space a more artistic vibe than one would expect at a breakfast spot.
All of these attributes combine to make the atmosphere feel casual yet classy, perfect on any Idaho vacation.
Goldy's Breakfast Bistro: Menu & Drinks
Let’s start with one of its favorites, the Eggs Benedicts! While the Benny will appeal to those who crave the classic, you’ll find creative twists like the Salmon Benny. This seafood dish features a salmon filet on a toasted English muffin with a poached egg, cucumber, and dill Hollandaise sauce.
Vegetarians have plenty to celebrate with the broccoli or asparagus with Hollandaise sauce.
Next up is the dish that made Bon Appétit perk up: Andalusian Eggs. This tasty dish showcases 2 poached eggs over Goldy’s Marinara, baked with ham, chorizo, asparagus, and peppers. It comes with your choice of toast, and you can add steamed white rice for an extra cost.
Space doesn’t allow us to discuss the pancakes, French toast, omelets, granola, and the jaw-dropping options on the build-your-own list. Rest assured that each is amazing in its own right.
The brunch choices range from juicy burgers and grilled turkey and balsamic chicken sandwiches to savory Frittatas and house salad. In short, there’s a meal for any time you visit, for any palate, diet, and budget.
The coffee is exceptional, showcasing Dawson Taylor beans at its full-service espresso bar. You’ll also find plenty of juice and soft drink options, while next door at Goldy’s Corner, mimosas are the star attraction.
Visiting Goldy's Breakfast Bistro will not only satisfy even your pickiest eater, but it is also a rite of passage when visiting Boise. A meal here sets the tone for exploring everything the city has to offer.
