Alabama Theatre

If you drive downtown, it’s hard to miss the four-story-tall sign and marquee of the Alabama Theatre. This is especially true at night when they burn with neon and glittering lights.

Paramount Studios built the venue in 1927 to showcase its new films. For decades, the theater entertained Birmingham with movies and was the location for the annual Miss Alabama pageant and the Mickey Mouse Club.

Such painstakingly detailed work returned it to its original glory and secured its spot on the National Register of Historic Places.
