Temperature averages range from lows of 50 and highs exceeding 100. The Sonoran region is an interesting climate \u2013 a desert environment situated next to the humid ocean, with areas of high elevation. Rocky Point weather can be uncomfortably hot midday in summer, or surprisingly chilly during a storm, but for the most part, it\u2019s blessed with year-round sunshine and warmth.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Rocky Point, Mexico in fall<\/strong> \u2013 August to December averages lows of 60 and highs of 75. You can still catch ocean temperatures up to 75 in October, so it\u2019s considered the most pleasant time to enjoy the outdoors. <strong>Insider\u2019s Tip:<\/strong> Some people say late September, October, and November are the best times to experience Rocky Point with small crowds, warm water, and comfortably cool evenings that are perfect for dining al fresco. Lows get down to 55, but highs get up to the low 70s during the day. The water temperature dips down to 67 in January, but it\u2019s still do-able. Occasional winter rains, \u201cLas Aguas,\u201d can bring showers and dips in temperatures, so pack a few sweaters if you travel this time of year. The water in May and June are in the low 70s, ideal for swimming. The days are largely sunny, and there is very little rainfall, so humidity is lower than the summer months. <strong>Insider\u2019s Tip:<\/strong> Viva Penasco Carnaval takes place in March, with a host of festivals, music, costumes, and parades. There is a lot of car racing activity this time of year, too. There is an International Jazz Festival in April. Semana Santa is, by far, the busiest week in Puerto Pe\u00f1asco.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Rocky Point, Mexico in summer<\/strong> \u2013 Summers can be hot and humid, with lows of 80 and highs of 90 in June, up to 105 in August. Summer rains are short, heavy monsoons. July, August, and September are the stormiest months. The water temperature feels like a bath in the mid-80s. <strong>Insider\u2019s Tip:<\/strong> Due to the influx of international tourists and expats, the Fourth of July and Memorial Day weekend tend to be popular times of celebration in Rocky Point. There are not many events planned for the summer, but guided morning hikes, kayaking tours, and boat trips to Bird Island are some of the best attractions.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>Getting to Puerto Pe\u00f1asco by Land<\/h2>\n<p>Puerto Pe\u00f1asco is 215 miles from Phoenix, 216 miles from Tucson, 516 miles from Los Angeles, and 360 miles from San Diego. Most visitors drive into Puerto Pe\u00f1asco through Lukeville, AZ, reached from Phoenix and Tucson via Arizona Highway 85. From Lukeville, it\u2019s an easy one-hour drive from the American\/Mexican border. If you\u2019ve never driven in sand before, take caution; stopping is not as easy, and visibility can be impaired when the wind kicks up.<\/p>\n<p>All motorists are required to purchase Mexican auto insurance prior to the trip.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 16px;\">If you prefer not to drive yourself, shuttle services are available through Head Out To Rocky Point (Phoenix), Rocky Point Rides (Tucson), Transportes Nena\u2019s (Puerto Pe\u00f1asco), or Transportes Superior (Puerto Pe\u00f1asco.)<\/span><\/p>\n<p>If you wish to rent a car, Enterprise, Dollar, Hertz, and Thrifty are among the few companies that allow trips to Mexico.\u00a0 There are additional car rental agencies once in Rocky Point, if you arrive by shuttle and would like to explore that option. Contact Casago Concierge for more information.<\/p>\n<h2>Flying into Rocky Point Airport<\/h2>\n<p>Mar de Cort\u00e9s International Airport (PPE) is a regional private jet airport about three miles from the center of town. The Rocky Point airport was the first privately funded airport in Mexico, inaugurated in 2009. Commercial flights have landed in Rocky Point in the past, but private charter is currently the only option. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westwindairservice.com\/rocky-point-private-charters\/\">WestWind Air Service<\/a>, based out of Phoenix, offers private charters to Rocky Point for about $350 per ticket or $2,500 for the whole nine-passenger plane. The airport can be reached by calling 636-383-6097.<\/p>\n<p>Once you\u2019re in Rocky Point, it\u2019s affordable and easy to get around town by taxi. Most trips cost just $2-3 per person, even in the tourist areas.
